Rihanna reunites with Chris Brown, sparking controversy
If the rumors are correct, and Rihanna has gotten back with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, there are a good deal of who do not find this bit of news surprising in the least.
The pair split in 2009 after an exceptionally publicized domestic assault incident. Afterward Rihanna came forward as a victim of abuse, saying that she would like to help other young ladies who were victims of abuse “in any way” attainable.
Recent reports claim the pair have been spending time together, & now Brown & Rihanna have released two collaborative remixes – of “Birthday Cake” & “Turn up the Music” – seemingly confirming rumors of a reunion.
The news did not shock the executive director for the National Coalition against Domestic Violence, Rita Smith, who told MTV News: “I’m not especially shocked given the rumors that had gone on around this, & it is also not surprising since loads of victims get back with their abusers, even after an assault.
“They love them, they think they alter, & abusers are specifically fantastic at convincing you they’ve transformed. I don’t know what their relationship is at this point, although I’m not surprised that she’s staying connected.
“I’m nonetheless concerned due to the fact his reaction to people’s criticism of him being on the Grammys was fairly belligerent, & that did not give me much of a message or sense of hope that he had made alterations since the assault.”
After picking up a Grammy earlier this month, Brown responded to criticism on Twitter by tweeting: “HATE ALL U Need BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That’s the ultimate F**K OFF!”
Throughout the awards ceremony, which featured an efficiency from Brown, “wife beater” became a well known trending subject on the micro blogging site.
An inside source told Radar Online that it wasn’t truly Brown who penned and published those Tweets – that “an individual does his postings on Twitter & when he saw that he ordered it taken down right away.”
